Fifteen Years of Rising Excellence
A&A Elevator’s Transformative and Impactful Journey

In a demanding and competitive industry, A&A Elevator has distinguished itself as a company rooted in strong values and genuine social commitment. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Pompano Beach, Florida-based firm is not only known for its technical excellence but also for raising the standards of the vertical transportation industry.
Founded in 2010 in Fort Lauderdale by Carlos Contreras, Martín Cruz, Javier López, and Robert Báez, A&A Elevator was born out of a clear mission: to bring specialized, human-centered service, to the residential elevator market. “We found that in many buildings, elevators were out of service for weeks, disproportionately impacting seniors and people with disabilities. That reality compelled us to act”, explains Carlos Contreras, President and General Manager.
A purposeful beginning
From the outset, A&A Elevator embraced a win-win philosophy: balancing profitability with social responsibility. The company offered affordable modernization, repair, and maintenance services, even financing projects interest-free to help low-income communities. “An elevator is the backbone of a building and a key factor in quality of life”, notes the Engineer Contreras.
Launched during the 2010 economic crisis, the company focused on educating clients about code compliance, safety, and sustainability. “We didn’t just replace parts. “We changed how people think about responsibility and community”, adds Javier López, Service Manager.

The company’s operational culture is guided by biblical principles, which are integrated into every aspect of its work. Verses like: “If your duty is to carry a load one mile, carry it two” (Matthew 5:41), “Do all things heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (Colossians 3:23) are not just inspirational, they define how A&A Elevator serves. This value system fosters a culture where mechanics regularly go above and beyond.
Each project reflects A&A Elevator’s exceptional attention to detail. “We paint machine rooms white and coat the floors—because even in technical spaces, cleanliness and care matter”, says Modernization Manager Martín Cruz.
Instead of hiring outside talent, A&A Elevator created its own training program based on NAEC guidelines. Carlos Contreras, who also serves as a CET Supervisor, personally oversees the program. “We train candidates from the ground up—technically and ethically”, he says. Technicians are certified with OSHA credentials and the Certificate of Competency (CC), reflecting their adherence to the highest safety and quality standards.

A sustainable model of vertical mobility
For A&A Elevator, sustainability is a core principle. The company uses hybrid vehicles, biodegradable products, and works with certified waste processors to reduce environmental impact. Clients are also educated on the energy-saving benefits of modern elevator systems. Recently, A&A Elevator has also begun developing its own elevator fixtures, components that combine design, functionality, and environmental responsibility. These fixtures are now being used by other elevator companies, further expanding A&A Elevator’s influence across the industry.
Recognitions that validate its trajectory
Since 2019, the company has earned seven Ellies Awards, including Best Contractor South and Best Family-Owned Business. In 2020, it was recognized locally with the Growing Business Award by the City of Plantation. Now, A&A Elevator has been nominated again—for the 2025 Ellies Awards in the Best Supplier – Fixtures category.

Beyond awards, the company receives perhaps the most valuable recognition of all: client loyalty. One example is the modernization of four high-speed elevators in a 21-story building in Brickell, Miami. “It was our first major contract, nearly a million dollars. We completed the job and the client was satisfied. A few months later, a new board brought in another company, but they soon asked us to return. That was a key turning point for A&A Elevator”, recalls co-founder Robert Báez.
Strategic growth and industry leadership
Now operating in over 20 U.S. states, A&A Elevator executes a range of projects, including federal contracts. Simultaneously, A&A Elevator is investing in specialized services, such as deep drilling for hydraulic pistons, a critical market need. After facing a nationwide shortage of suppliers for a complex 54-foot drilling project in Coral Gables, the company expanded its capabilities and now provides this service to other contractors, turning a challenge into a new business opportunity.
The four founders bring over 40 years of combined experience and complement each other’s strengths. Their leadership is grounded in a desire to serve—not just clients, but also communities.
Looking Ahead
With 15 years of steady growth, A&A Elevator continues to expand into new areas, while reinforcing its training programs and strategic partnerships. Yet, above all, the company remains guided by a deeper mission. “We’re still moving forward with determination. God has guided us this far, and we want to continue being blessing to others”, says the president of A&A Elevator.
Their anniversary theme is Ebenezer, “Thus far the Lord has helped us”, because captures the spirit of gratitude, purpose, and enduring progress that defines A&A Elevator.
